I love 80s music. I mean… really love 80s music. I was 3 when the 80s started and 13 by the time they ended – so incredibly formative years of my life. I’ve got a massive playlist of songs I grew up listening to, but some of the best 80s music I have discovered has come to me as an adult.
I’m pretty sure the first time I heard today’s track – I Ran (So Far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls – was when I was playing GTA: Vice City, which only came out in 2002. So it’s…. New 80s to me, maybe? Either way it’s an 80s fave and slightly appropriate as I head back out onto the road to train for my next 5km run.
Yes. I know the song isn’t exactly about running in the same way I’m talking about, but I definitely feel like it’s got a suitable rhythm and tempo for pounding the pavement. An epic, spacey ambient intro coupled with the 80s synthy goodness and it becomes an absolute winner in my book.
